Travel Nainital

The nearest railway station to Nainital is Kathgodam. Direct trains are also available from Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow. There is also bus facility from Delhi which takes eight to nine hours and you will reach Nainital. Pantnagar is near the airport but the frequency of flights here is less. Near by airport is Pantnagar But the frequency of flights here is less.  You can visit Nainital any time of the year or can explore.  

Let us see some gems of Nainital:

1. Naini Lake

    The lake itself is visible first, so you can start your journey with boating in Naini Lake and enjoy the surrounding valleys.  Naini Lake is a natural fresh water lake spread over about 120 acres. This lake is very beautiful and you will get to see its colour differently in every season. The special thing about Nainital is that all the places here are nearby where you can roam on foot but you can also roam here by renting a scooter for five hundred to six hundred rupees which you will easily find in many places here. 

2. Naina Devi Temple 

    Naina Devi Temple is one of the nearest attractions of Nainital. You will also see many shops outside Naina Devi Temple where you can do shopping. There is a Gurudwara here and there is also a mosque behind it. Naina Devi Temple is one of the fifty-one Shaktipeeths of India and when Lord Shiva was going towards Mount Kailash with the dead body of Sati, Sati\'s eyes fell here and then the Shaktipeeth of Naina Devi was established here. Naina Devi Temple is situated on the northern end of Naini Lake. Here the Shakti form of Sati Mata is worshipped. This temple also has two eyes which represent the power of Naina Devi.

3. Nainital Mall Road 

    What makes Nainital Mall Road very special is its location. Nainital Mall Road is situated on the banks of Naini Lake, which gives it a very beautiful vibe. You can also consider Mall Road as the city center of Nainital. Whenever you come to Nainital, you can spend your evenings on Mall Road of Nainital. Nainital Mall Road is quite happening in the evening and the reflection of city lights of Nainital that you will see in Naini Lake gives a very soothing experience to the eyes.

4. Raj Bhavan 

    Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan located in Nainital, you can hire a scooty, bike, taxi or a private taxi and then you can explore the Nainital city easily and happily.  Raj Bhavan is located at a distance of 2 km from the city center and is about 125 years old. This structure, which looks like a Scottish castle, is the summer residence of the Governor of Uttarakhand. This Raj Bhavan of Uttarakhand, built in Gothic style and spread over about 220 acres, is also open for visitors. You will also get to see St. Francis Catholic Church near Raj Bhawan located in Nainital.

5. St. John\'s Wilderness Church 

    St. John\'s Wilderness Church located in Nainital is a place of deep historical and emotional significance. Established in 1846, its foundation stone was laid in 1844 by Daniel Wilson, Bishop of Calcutta. This church is known for its beautiful neo-Gothic architecture and its serene environment set amidst tall trees. It is said that it provides a feeling of peace and tranquility to all who visit here. The church, which is now open only for Sunday prayer services, holds a special place in the hearts of many, including the famous Jim Corbett, who was a regular visitor. The church is now in need of restoration, it remains an important heritage building, reflecting the craftsmanship and history of an earlier era.

6. Nainital zoo 

    Nainital zoo, this is a very well maintained zoo in which you will get a chance to see many wild animals up close. Such as Royal Bengal Tiger, Himalayan Bear, Red Panda, Leopard and  you will also get to see many varieties of birds. Here you will see a large number of animals.

7. Naini Peak 

    Naini Peak, also known as China Peak, offers the most breathtaking view of Nainital and its surrounding areas. Situated at an altitude of 8,600 feet, it is the highest point in Nainital, offering panoramic views of Naini Lake, the city below and the vast Himalayan range. The trek to Naini Peak is about 3 kilometers long, with the level of difficulty being moderate. This makes it an entertaining challenge for adventure enthusiasts. Although it can be a steep climb at times, it is worth the effort once you reach the top. From here, tourists can enjoy a stunning view of the city spread below, with Naini Lake appearing in its iconic mango shape. The trek can take about an hour and a half, and there is a small cafeteria at the summit offering snacks like Maggi, but it is advisable to carry your own luggage as there are no eating places on the rest of the way. Naini Peak also has a small temple dedicated to Goddess Naina, which adds a serene touch to the natural beauty surrounding it. The view from the summit is especially mesmerizing during sunset, making it a must-see for both peace and adventure seekers.

8. Snow View Point 

    Snow View Point, located at a high altitude near Nainital, offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayan range. The journey to this viewpoint involves a steep climb, which may be a bit challenging for first-time visitors. It is recommended to either park your vehicle at a lower location and continue on foot or know the route beforehand if you are traveling by bike. Once you reach the Snow View Point, the panoramic views of the snow-clad peaks are breathtaking, with the majestic Himalayas spread out before you. The area also has an adventure park, which adds an element of excitement for those seeking more activity. From this vantage point, you can observe the beautiful hues of the mountain ranges, especially when bathed in sunlight, the white peaks appearing in perfect contrast. Although the trek can be tiring, the reward is worth it, it offers an unparalleled view of the Himalayan landscape, making it a must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

9. The Cave Garden 

    The Cave Garden in Nainital is a fascinating spot, known for its natural caves and beautiful surroundings. The structures here are made of mud and stone, which adds to the charm of the place. The garden has narrow paths and steep climbs, which can be a bit challenging, but the views and experience are truly worth it. There are also swings and other adventure activities for children. Overall, the Cave Garden is a unique and exciting place where you can enjoy nature and have a great time.

10. Tiffin Top 

    Tiffin Top, also known locally as Dorothy\'s Seat, is a beautiful trekking spot located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, about 4 kilometers from the main city. From here tourists can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the entire Nainital city.It is an ideal place for trekking enthusiasts, with a beautiful trek of 1.5 to 2 kilometers that passes through lush greenery, blooming Buransha flowers and the melodious sound of birds. You can reach Tiffin Top by car or bike and for those who prefer a shorter route, horse riding is also available. This place is especially popular among photographers due to its breathtaking views. The name Tiffin Top comes from the time when people used to come to this place to take their tiffin (lunch box) during picnics. Tiffin Top is famous for its sunrise and sunset views, making it an ideal location for photography. Apart from trekking, tourists can enjoy activities like mountain climbing, horse riding and camping. It has become a must-see place in Nainital for tourists, offering both natural beauty and adventure.
